Councilman David Rogers

Councilman David Rogers

  • Council Member / Attorney

David Rogers wasn't born in Texas, but he got here as fast as he could. Rogers started kindergarten at a Montessori on Hollywood Boulevard, First grade in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he discovered snow (true story!), and began Texas schooling in the Second Grade at Maplewood Elementary School. He went to O. Henry Junior High, graduated Austin High, University of Houston (Downtown), University of Southern California, and Texas Tech University Law School. Along the way, he met and married his beautiful wife Lisa, and moved to Pflugerville, where all of their wonderful children have grown up, living in the same house since the day they came home from the hospital. Rogers was a photo-op prop for 1972 Democratic Presidential Candidate George McGovern (where he may or may not have met McGovern Texas coordinator Bill Clinton the night before the election), and was a Jesse Jackson delegate in 1988. In 2001, he volunteered to block-walk for his college friend Rob Bell, and knocked on more doors than any other volunteer as Rob won a landslide 16-point victory. In 2002, he ran the statewide campaign for his old friend Steven Wayne Smith, leading an upset victory in the primary and a surprise win against an amazingly well-funded Democrat. Smith was outspent over 80-to-1. In 2004, Rogers joined the winning effort by Pflugerville Pfamilies Pfirst to stop a horse-race-track from being installed in eastern Pflugerville. In 2005, 2006, and 2007, Rogers backed the successful PPP candidates for council, including the first-ever black and Hispanic members of the Pflugerville City Council, Mark Gladney and Victor Gonzales. From 2006 to 2008, Rogers served on the PCDC(Pflugerville Community Development Corporation), where he cast the tie-breaking vote to purchase the land at the corner of Pecan Street and Toll Road 130, today the home of the Courtyard by Marriott, Community Impact, and many other businesses that have made Pflugerville home. After the PCDC, Rogers served longer than anyone else on the Pflugerville Board of Adjustment (becoming the "dean" of the Board, in then-councilman Gonzales' words). In the interim, Rogers worked for the Texas Supreme Court, for the Hazen and Terrill law firm, and founded his own independent law firm where he represents citizens, homeowners and small businesses defending their rights against government, banks, insurance companies, HOAs and assorted troublemakers. His three kids are a paramedic trainee and college student, a cheerleader co-captain, and a dance team member. His wife is a PfISD teacher, international traveler and lover of languages and science." Rogers enjoys high-school-Pfootball, movies, histories, science, economics, and battling the ever-present menace of obnoxious weeds in his yard. His hero is Winston Churchill. His role model is Mitch Poe.
